Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Foundation Review

July 19, 2017

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Foundation

Influenster recently sent me a complimentary Laura Mercier Vox Box featuring their newest foundation: The Flawless Fusion Foundation. Being that I have oily acne prone skin I am so picky about my foundation! I don’t like any cakey, but full coverage is a must! I also really need coverage that stays on all day and doesn’t melt away. Nothing is worse than seeing yourself halfway through the day and wondering where the heck your make up went.

The description that the Flawless Fusion Foundation has is pretty impressive, and I was curious to try it out and see if it actually proved to be true. The card that it came with said that it was a long wearing foundation that was weightless, had 15 hour wear, a matte finish, oil free, and transfer resistant. All of these are some pretty high things to claim. I mean transfer resistant alone is a big plus!

I’ve bene using The Flawless Fusion Foundation for a little over a week now, and man am I impressed! I don’t have to pump out very much (about two pumps) to get the coverage that I love. It goes on so thin and I don’t even feel like I’m wearing make up. It’s hard for me to describe it, but it just feels so soft during application. It dries pretty fast so I do have to buff it in quickly. I usually work check to check, then forehead down. So once I apply it to my skin I buff in quickly and make sure it’s blended well before heading to the next area. The coverage is definitely matte, and I don’t feel like it disappears as the day continues. Seriously, so impressed by this stuff!

I received the shade 2N2 Linen. It’s a little more bronze than I am, which totally works for summer, but I may have to go down a shade in winter.

Thank you Influenster and Laura Mercier for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Drugstore Mascara’s I’m Loving

July 5, 2017

drugstore mascaras drugstore mascaras

Mascara is a beauty product that I just don’t think I could go without. The difference a coat of mascara can make is huge! It can help you go from tired eyes to looking awake with just a few flicks of the wand. I am super picky about my mascara! I usually go for mascara that gives me volume, and spreads out my lashes, and am not at all a fan of anything clumpy. I also like to make sure that the mascara doesn’t flake off throughout the day. All of those points usually help me narrow down my options. I thought I’d share some of my recent drugstore mascara finds that I’m loving.

L’Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara

Now this mascara is one I am sure you have heard people rave about before. And yes, I am going to rave about it too. I rarely branch out from Maybelline when shopping mascara at the drugstore. Yet, I couldn’t resist trying out this mascara and seeing if the hype was actually totally right. Well…it is! This stuff is amazing! I know they also have a primer, but I haven’t tried that. This mascara totally volumizes your lashes, and leaves them looking really thick. I haven’t found it to be clumpy at all. Totally love this stuff, and am on the band wagon to buy it again!

Maybelline Volum’ Express The Colossal Mascara

Now onto my love of all things Maybelline mascara. The Colossal is just a good tride and true buy. If you are ever unsure and in a hurry picking this baby up off the shelf is a good go to. My mom and sister have used this one before as well and I know they feel the same. It gives you volume, but can be a little thick. I’ve noticed that it does have to dry all the way before I can do anything else.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

I just recently purchased the Lash Sensational. A few bloggers I follow have mentioned it, so I thought I’d branch out and try it. The wand itself is a little different with the curve that it has. I usually go for a straight full wand, since I feel like that is what gives me the most volume. However, this one totally fans out my lashes! I am still learning the best way to use the curved wand, and I think it is something that if you haven’t used before you have to get used to. Yet, on the days when I feel like I get it right my lashes look amazing!

Maybelline Volum’ Express The Rocket Mascara

The Rocket is a mascara I have bought a few times. I like the waterproof formula over the regular one so this is just about the only waterproof mascara I ever buy. I don’t wear it often because of that, but it’s my go to when I know I’m going to be in the water, or crying. I’ve worn this to weddings, the beach, and even pool parties. It doesn’t flake or run at all! I do however, feel like I need the heavy duty remover to get the stuff off at the end of the day.
Have you used any of these? What are some go to mascara’s you love? I always love hearing other’s suggestions!

Is there anything better than getting your hair and make up done? Seriously when someone else does my make up I always walk away not understanding what they do that is so different than what I do everyday. However if you just look at my face in this post it is just wayyyy better! It’s all thanks to a friend of mine, Elly, who went to cosmetology school. Seriously, you guys she is amazing at what she does!

Obviously, this is much more make up than I am used to, but I think that’s one of the fun parts of the holidays. Getting dressed shouldn’t just be about the outfit you put on. I know…shocker, coming from a fashion blogger…the clothes are important but getting dressed up is fun to do from head to toe! Do your hair different than you normally would, and apply that contour you don’t normally. I’ve already been to a few holiday parties this year, and I am sure y’all still have some on your calendars. Have fun with them! Pull out that dress that is a little out of your comfort zone and rock it. I know you can do it!

Nip + Fab Skin Dragon’s Blood Fix Review

November 22, 2016

Nip + Fab Skin Fix Nip + Fab Dragons Blood Nip + Fab Night Pads Nip + Fab Review

It has taken me wayyyy too long to try out and review these products. I apologize! I’m always super hesitant to try stuff out because I struggle with acne so much. However, as I did my research into Nip+Fab I found out that Kylie Jenner absolutely loves the plumping serum and now I totally know why. I wish I hadn’t waited so long. This stuff is incredible!

So what is “dragon’s blood?” That’s honestly the real question because I am not just going to put random stuff on my face. It’s the sap from the Croton Lechleri tree which helps hydrate, calm, protect and plump the appearance of skin. So far I have used the mask and serum, but I’ll tell you what the other pieces of the line does.

The Dragon’s Blood Fix Mask is a hydrating gel mask which is suppose to help “reduce the look of wrinkles and refine the skin’s appearance for a brighter, more youthful looking complexion.” You can either use it for 10 minutes and wash it off or sleep in it over night. I was expecting a tingling feeling, but nothing of that sort happened at all. It went on really easy and almost has a warm sensation to it. The smell reminded me of mens after shave. My face definitely felt more hydrated after using it.

The Nip + Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Serum smooths the skin and also adds a little extra hydration.  It left my skin with a silky feeling rather than oily which I appreciated. I’ve bee wanting to add a serum into my routine, but was always really nervous and this gave me a chance to try one. Honestly, the serum felt very similar to a primer and is meant to be applied before moisturizer. It says it fills in fine lines and wrinkles, as it plumps and smooths, but I think I’ll have to wait a few years to see if it actually helps that.

Being that these two products are the ones I have tested so far I am really impressed. They have left my skin feeling and looking great over the last few weeks. I even think they have faded some of my dark spots. I’m going to keep using them and we’ll see how they continue to do.

The other two products are the Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads and the scrub. The pads are great to get rid of extra make up after you have cleansed your skin. One side of the pad is textured and the other is flat so it’s nice when you don’t feel like going the extra mile to use the scrub to exfoliate.

Let’s Get Cleansing – Clarisonic Mia 2 Review

October 13, 2016

Clarisonic Mia 2 Review Clarisonic Mia 2 Review Clarisonic Mia 2 Review

Let’s talk about skin care. My skin is troubled. It has been for many years now. I’ve dealt with acne since I was about 17 and I am so careful about what I use and put on my skin. I am always diligent to wash my face in the morning and at night; and oh, forget about going to bed with makeup still on! That would absolutely never happen! However, as anyone who is a clean skin fanatic like me, your skin just never feels clean or fresh enough.

Now enter into the picture, Clarisonic. I was thrilled to partner with Clarisonic and try out the Mia 2.

There is seriously so many fun and great things about it. This type of brush, cleanser, and mask that came with the Mia 2 are all related to their DeepPore line. The mask is seriously amazing by itself, but even better when you wash it off with the brush. The Deep Pore Cleanser and Mask are meant to remove impurities, help control oil and refine enlarged pores. I definitely noticed that my pores were smaller and tighter after using the mask.

Being that I am really picky about my skincare, and I was already using the Roden + Fields acne line, I just worked in using the Clarisonic Mia 2 into my everyday routine. First, I would use a make up wipe and remove all of my makeup and eye makeup from the day. Then, I would wet my face and rub my choice of cleanser all over. Once my face was covered, I would turn on the brush and use as directed.

There are a few features about the Clarisonic Mia 2 that really stood out to me. One, is that it has a built in timer to tell you how long to use the brush on your face. Your forehead and chin are each 20 seconds, with 10 seconds on each cheek. The Clarisonic beeps to tell you to move to the next spot as you cleanse. I thought that was so awesome! This way you know you aren’t over-cleansing or under-cleansing, and each area of your face gets exactly what you need. I also loved that I could use the Clarisonic in the shower. It’s completely sealed, so there’s no worry of getting water in a spot I’m not suppose to. Thirdly, I love that I can change out the brush head. Everyone’s skin changes as time passes and as we age. Clarisonic has a variety of brush heads for exactly the type of skin that you have!

Overall, I was thrilled with my Clarisonic Mia 2! It’s so useful and makes my skin feel like I did the best job cleaning it that I could. I think with Christmas coming up, it would be an awesome gift for a friend or anyone you know who is really into taking care of their skin. If you’re into early gift buying like me, you can use code HERCAMPUS for 15% off your purchase until November 20! Don’t miss out.

L’Oréal EverPure Repair & Defend™ Review

May 19, 2016

L'Oréal EverPure Repair & Defend™ Review L'Oréal EverPure Repair & Defend™ Review

I recently had the pleasure of trying the new EverPure Repair & Defend system from L’oreal for my hair. NowI have used L’oreal Paris shampoo and conditioner before and loved it. Back when I was blonde I used their EverPure Blonde line to keep my hair healthy and make the blonde last longer without giving it a brassy look. Something that is great about all of their EverPure lines is that they are sulfate-free. Sulfates are great for cleaning hair, but they also strip the color from your hair. This collection is meant to repair damaged hair without stripping the color.

This line works wonders! After washing my hair it felt super soft and silky. I put a small dollop of the lotion in my hair after the shower. I almost always use a leave in conditioner, and this one is great because it also protects from UV rays and heat. I love that little bonus!

Having long hair that has been previously color treated and that I put heat on somewhat frequently using a hair mask is a must! Using a mask once or twice a week really makes a difference in how your hair feels. This one works really well and I would recommend it.

The one thing about the L’oreal EverPure Repair & Defend system is I am not a huge fan of the smell. It’s very strong but sometimes with shampoo that really helps your hair it is totally worth it!

Pull Through Pony Tail Braid Tutorial

Pull Through Braid Tutorial

Today I wanted to show you this really simple way to dress up your pony tails! All you’ll need is a hair tie and some baby elastics.

Moo's Musing Pony Tail

First you’ll want to gather your hair into a pony tail. I choose to do mine pretty high on my head but it’s up to you.

You will split your pony tail in half so you have a bottom and top layer. Then take the bottom section and split in half again. Wrap those two sections around your top layer and tie off (seen below).

Then you will continue splitting the hair underneath in half and wrap it around the front.

Do this all the way down to where you want your braid to end.

You’ll then go through and pull all the wrapped pieces apart until you get your desired look!

And TA DA! You are all done! Isn’t that so simple?! I’d love to see if you guys try out this style so make sure to tweet me the pictures!
