Is there anything better than getting your hair and make up done? Seriously when someone else does my make up I always walk away not understanding what they do that is so different than what I do everyday. However if you just look at my face in this post it is just wayyyy better! It’s all thanks to a friend of mine, Elly, who went to cosmetology school. Seriously, you guys she is amazing at what she does!

Obviously, this is much more make up than I am used to, but I think that’s one of the fun parts of the holidays. Getting dressed shouldn’t just be about the outfit you put on. I know…shocker, coming from a fashion blogger…the clothes are important but getting dressed up is fun to do from head to toe! Do your hair different than you normally would, and apply that contour you don’t normally. I’ve already been to a few holiday parties this year, and I am sure y’all still have some on your calendars. Have fun with them! Pull out that dress that is a little out of your comfort zone and rock it. I know you can do it!

Nip + Fab Skin Dragon’s Blood Fix Review

November 22, 2016

Nip + Fab Skin Fix Nip + Fab Dragons Blood Nip + Fab Night Pads Nip + Fab Review

It has taken me wayyyy too long to try out and review these products. I apologize! I’m always super hesitant to try stuff out because I struggle with acne so much. However, as I did my research into Nip+Fab I found out that Kylie Jenner absolutely loves the plumping serum and now I totally know why. I wish I hadn’t waited so long. This stuff is incredible!

So what is “dragon’s blood?” That’s honestly the real question because I am not just going to put random stuff on my face. It’s the sap from the Croton Lechleri tree which helps hydrate, calm, protect and plump the appearance of skin. So far I have used the mask and serum, but I’ll tell you what the other pieces of the line does.

The Dragon’s Blood Fix Mask is a hydrating gel mask which is suppose to help “reduce the look of wrinkles and refine the skin’s appearance for a brighter, more youthful looking complexion.” You can either use it for 10 minutes and wash it off or sleep in it over night. I was expecting a tingling feeling, but nothing of that sort happened at all. It went on really easy and almost has a warm sensation to it. The smell reminded me of mens after shave. My face definitely felt more hydrated after using it.

The Nip + Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Serum smooths the skin and also adds a little extra hydration.  It left my skin with a silky feeling rather than oily which I appreciated. I’ve bee wanting to add a serum into my routine, but was always really nervous and this gave me a chance to try one. Honestly, the serum felt very similar to a primer and is meant to be applied before moisturizer. It says it fills in fine lines and wrinkles, as it plumps and smooths, but I think I’ll have to wait a few years to see if it actually helps that.

Being that these two products are the ones I have tested so far I am really impressed. They have left my skin feeling and looking great over the last few weeks. I even think they have faded some of my dark spots. I’m going to keep using them and we’ll see how they continue to do.

The other two products are the Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads and the scrub. The pads are great to get rid of extra make up after you have cleansed your skin. One side of the pad is textured and the other is flat so it’s nice when you don’t feel like going the extra mile to use the scrub to exfoliate.

Let’s Get Cleansing – Clarisonic Mia 2 Review

October 13, 2016

Clarisonic Mia 2 Review Clarisonic Mia 2 Review Clarisonic Mia 2 Review

Let’s talk about skin care. My skin is troubled. It has been for many years now. I’ve dealt with acne since I was about 17 and I am so careful about what I use and put on my skin. I am always diligent to wash my face in the morning and at night; and oh, forget about going to bed with makeup still on! That would absolutely never happen! However, as anyone who is a clean skin fanatic like me, your skin just never feels clean or fresh enough.

Now enter into the picture, Clarisonic. I was thrilled to partner with Clarisonic and try out the Mia 2.

There is seriously so many fun and great things about it. This type of brush, cleanser, and mask that came with the Mia 2 are all related to their DeepPore line. The mask is seriously amazing by itself, but even better when you wash it off with the brush. The Deep Pore Cleanser and Mask are meant to remove impurities, help control oil and refine enlarged pores. I definitely noticed that my pores were smaller and tighter after using the mask.

Being that I am really picky about my skincare, and I was already using the Roden + Fields acne line, I just worked in using the Clarisonic Mia 2 into my everyday routine. First, I would use a make up wipe and remove all of my makeup and eye makeup from the day. Then, I would wet my face and rub my choice of cleanser all over. Once my face was covered, I would turn on the brush and use as directed.

There are a few features about the Clarisonic Mia 2 that really stood out to me. One, is that it has a built in timer to tell you how long to use the brush on your face. Your forehead and chin are each 20 seconds, with 10 seconds on each cheek. The Clarisonic beeps to tell you to move to the next spot as you cleanse. I thought that was so awesome! This way you know you aren’t over-cleansing or under-cleansing, and each area of your face gets exactly what you need. I also loved that I could use the Clarisonic in the shower. It’s completely sealed, so there’s no worry of getting water in a spot I’m not suppose to. Thirdly, I love that I can change out the brush head. Everyone’s skin changes as time passes and as we age. Clarisonic has a variety of brush heads for exactly the type of skin that you have!

Overall, I was thrilled with my Clarisonic Mia 2! It’s so useful and makes my skin feel like I did the best job cleaning it that I could. I think with Christmas coming up, it would be an awesome gift for a friend or anyone you know who is really into taking care of their skin. If you’re into early gift buying like me, you can use code HERCAMPUS for 15% off your purchase until November 20! Don’t miss out.

L’Oréal EverPure Repair & Defend™ Review

May 19, 2016

L'Oréal EverPure Repair & Defend™ Review L'Oréal EverPure Repair & Defend™ Review

I recently had the pleasure of trying the new EverPure Repair & Defend system from L’oreal for my hair. NowI have used L’oreal Paris shampoo and conditioner before and loved it. Back when I was blonde I used their EverPure Blonde line to keep my hair healthy and make the blonde last longer without giving it a brassy look. Something that is great about all of their EverPure lines is that they are sulfate-free. Sulfates are great for cleaning hair, but they also strip the color from your hair. This collection is meant to repair damaged hair without stripping the color.

This line works wonders! After washing my hair it felt super soft and silky. I put a small dollop of the lotion in my hair after the shower. I almost always use a leave in conditioner, and this one is great because it also protects from UV rays and heat. I love that little bonus!

Having long hair that has been previously color treated and that I put heat on somewhat frequently using a hair mask is a must! Using a mask once or twice a week really makes a difference in how your hair feels. This one works really well and I would recommend it.

The one thing about the L’oreal EverPure Repair & Defend system is I am not a huge fan of the smell. It’s very strong but sometimes with shampoo that really helps your hair it is totally worth it!

Pull Through Pony Tail Braid Tutorial

Pull Through Braid Tutorial

Today I wanted to show you this really simple way to dress up your pony tails! All you’ll need is a hair tie and some baby elastics.

Moo's Musing Pony Tail

First you’ll want to gather your hair into a pony tail. I choose to do mine pretty high on my head but it’s up to you.

You will split your pony tail in half so you have a bottom and top layer. Then take the bottom section and split in half again. Wrap those two sections around your top layer and tie off (seen below).

Then you will continue splitting the hair underneath in half and wrap it around the front.

Do this all the way down to where you want your braid to end.

You’ll then go through and pull all the wrapped pieces apart until you get your desired look!

And TA DA! You are all done! Isn’t that so simple?! I’d love to see if you guys try out this style so make sure to tweet me the pictures!

Try Dry | Dove Dry Spray Deodorant Review

January 24, 2016

Dove Dry Spray Moo's Musing Review

Deodorant. Everyone needs it. Even the people who don’t wear it, need it (and I’m sure we all know a few of those…am I right?!). However, I think we all expect a little something different from our deodorant or antiperspirant.

I’ve been using Dove’s deodorant for many years now. Their brand always worked best for me, keeping any smell at bay and keeping my underarms somewhat dry in the lovely California heat we have been experiencing here. Being stinky isn’t something that I’ve ever really struggled with. Whereas staying dry has always been more of my problem. No deodorant or antiperspirant ever really fixed that for me, but I felt like Dove helped it best.

Now came this incredible new product I received in an Influenster Voxbox! Seriously you guys, this stuff is incredible! The bottle says 48 hour anti-perspirant on it, but I don’t think that’s really possible for any deodorant. Not to mention applying deodorant every 2 days just doesn’t seem realistic no matter how well the product works. With that being said though, this stuff really does work! Dove offers many different scents, and it really does keep me dry!

The difference between a dry spray deodorant than a roll on or gel is there is no “dry time” required. You don’t have to walk around with your arms up in the air for it to dry or wait to put on your shirt for sake of white marks. All that is gone with the dry spray. All you have to do is hold it about 6 inches from your under arm, spray, and then go. It’s really that easy!

I highly recommend you try a dry spray! They also have a men’s formula!

My Everyday Makeup Routine

August 25, 2015

Moo's Musing Everyday Makeup Routine

Moo's Musing Everyday Makeup Routine

Today I decided to share my typical make up routine with y’all! On most days, I keep my makeup pretty simple since I prefer to look as natural as possible. There are days when I like to have a little more fun; and I mean I love lipstick just as much as the next girl, however, this is the stuff that I use on any plain ol’ day.

I typically start off with this primer. I have oily skin and so anything that helps me stay matte throughout the day I will automatically give a chance to! Next I use a damp Real Techniques Sponge to apply Loreal’s Infallible Foundation. I’m the shade “natural buff”. Once everything is all blended I use Physicians Formula Concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes. I finish off my face with powder and blush! I absolutely love Milani’s baked blushesI have a few different shades for highlighting depending on the season of summer or fall. This shade is Rose D’Ore.

After finishing up the face, I head on up to my eyes! Of course I start with curling my eye lashes! I think this is such an important step that a lot of people tend to skip. I like to then get on with my eyeshadow. This is a palette that I tend to use on and off. Then I move on to lining my eyes. I like this gel liner from Maybelline. I have it in both brown and black. I like that they come with their own little adorable brushes too. For mascara, I change what I use alllll the time! Right now I am using Maybelline’s Colossal and I like it. It’s working out really well right now. Then I finish by filling in my brows, and applying some chapstick or this balm stain.

You guys I have to talk about Revlon’s Colorburst Balm Stain. This shade is Honey, and I’ve had Smitten before as well. I love this balm stain. It applies kind of like a lipstick. I like to call it a crayon because that’s what it looks like to me. However, off of my childish tangent, I absolutely love them. They last pretty much all day, and are easy to apply without a mirror. You have to try them out!
